Toastmasters International
A Member's Goals and Achievements
Toastmasters recognizes member's achievements with the following designations:
CTM - Competent Toast Master
When a new member joins a club, they receive a booklet that outlines ten
speeches. Each speed is five to seven minutes long and
is given at one of the club's meetings. There is no requirement that the
speeches be done in any particular time frame, whatever the member is
comfortable with.
Here is a list of those ten speeches:
- Ice Breaker - a speech about yourself to introduce you to your club. Most people find it very easy to talk about themselves!
- Be in Earnest - talk about some issue that you believe in.
- Organize Your Speech - give a speech with a good opening, body, and conclusion.
- Show What You Mean - give a speech emphasizing body language and movement.
- Vocal Variety - use variation in your voice.
- Work With Words - be aware of the works you use in a speech.
- Apply Your Skills - combine all of the above into a good speech.
- Make it Persuasive - give a persuasive speech.
- Speak with Knowledge - read a prepared speech.
- Inspire Your Audience - use inspiration in your speech.
Once the member has completed these ten speeches, they receive a
